5 Major Benefits of Service Management Software for SMEs

The Benefits of Service Management Software

If you run a small business, then you already know how important it is to make sure you don’t let your customers down. Small businesses very often survive on word-of-mouth recommendations, and so being able to deliver a high-quality service, on-time and on-budget is essential. To make sure you can do that effectively, you need to know that you can make happen what you have promised to your customers and deliver your service to them to on-time. Service management software can help you achieve that by delivering systems that help you process your jobs, provide detailed job costings and provide transparency in your schedules so you know exactly who is available to do that job . Getting service management software in place for your business should be considered as essential as getting tradesman insurance.

The need for coffee…

The need for caffeine at simPRO is strong. I swear most of the staff can barely lift their heads without a kick of that coffee goodness first thing in the morning. Don’t get me wrong, we’re not ALL coffee drinkers, but the ones who are – WOW, coffee is king.

In the kitchen is a coffee machine. When the morning sun strikes its plastic and chrome body it brings smiles to the faces of caffeine junkies all over. It’s a place of discussion and discourse, a place where even the mundane can be discussed in depth and at length, where even the latest episodes of reality TV become important and encompassing, engrossing anyone who happens to cross the kitchen tiles.

But be warned, wrath shall rise with lack of the beans’ nectar.

A delivery of beans had gone missing! What were we to do? Where were the beans? Why hadn’t they been delivered?? As a backup the instant coffee was quickly depleted and we were left wondering if we had been forsaken by a higher power.

This is simPRO though. We pulled together and struggled through the coffee drought. We’ve since pooled our resources, gotten a pod machine and ensured the delivery driver has been well paid – a little bit of insurance against future delivery failures.

simPRO Developer `Cremes Competitors’

The pre-Easter gauntlet was thrown down to the sweetest of the sweet tooths in the simPRO Brisbane office to prove once and for all who ruled the sugar roost in binge eating of candy.

Laid on by Client Account Manager Mark Paton the rules were simple – represent your department for glory by scoffing a heap of sugar faster than the others. Said sugar in this case was 5 x Cadbury Creme Eggs.

  • Hayley represented the Client Services team.
  • Jeni represented the Marketing and Sales team.
  • Nathan represented the Development team.

The competition was fierce – but in the end there can be only one egg scoffing champion – and that was Nathan from the Development team.

Happy Easter to all our clients and friends!

Update on MYOB AccountRight 2011 Support

Following on from our update late last year about the issues with the MYOB AccountRight ODBC drivers, we recently received news on progress from MYOB about their timelines to fix.

This is the statement we received via e-mail this week:

The Developer Partner Team is pleased to announce that a plan has now been finalised to resolve the outstanding issues with the AccountRight ODBC Driver.

Since the Driver was released in November last year, there have been a number of issues with it. Many of these have been addressed in the various AccountRight Service Packs over recent months, but not all of them.

We realise that many of the issues have a direct impact on our Developer Partners and their ability to upgrade clients to the most recent versions of AccountRight. That’s why we’re pleased to be able to outline a 3 stage plan to resolve them.

The e-mail goes on to explain that all required elements should be completed by mid July and that most issues will be resolved by late June.

At this stage we still cannot give an accurate estimate as to when all the components we require for the simPRO Account Link will be completed and we can release an update to allow simPRO to work with MYOB AccountRight 2011 – so we still do not recommend an upgrade to this version. All other Accounting Links are still fine.

We will update this again when we know more.
