Do not upgrade to Windows 8 if using MYOB.
Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 8, is under Release Preview phase and is due to be released on 26th October 2012.
There is a known issue with AccountRight v19.7 (& prior versions) not working with Windows 8.
simPRO clients using MYOB should not upgrade any PC running MYOB to Windows 8 – if you do you will not be able to use MYOB or the simPRO/MYOB accounting link.
Also, as advised previously you should not upgrade your MYOB software to any version later than 19.7 as MYOB have not yet released the resources required for software companies to integrate to it.
We’re expecting further information from MYOB regarding this issue shortly and will keep you posted on the blog.

I spoke to MYOB support today, and they said version 19.8 is compatible with Windows 8 (fixed in November 2012). Have any updates been made since this notice was posted in simPRO?

Thanks for your comments.
We are currently working on a system for integration that will allow cross version systems to operate. We don’t have it at this stage and I can’t give you a time frame at this stage as to when we will have it available, except that it will be before the new financial year.
We’ll announce that on the blog when we are ready to get some companies to start testing out the new link.
