Hi Neale,

Yes most certainly does, but what you want to do will dictate how you you access it.

If you want to just login to your normal simPRO session as you would with your PC/Laptop, then you can (because simPRO is browser based) - however you will find that the screen size is not really big enough to do much work as it was really designed to run on a much bigger screen.

However if you were looking to have your staff manage and update their jobs using an iPhone, then that is done using the simPRO Field PDA - http://simpro.co/features/field - this allows you staff to open jobs, add times, materials, create purchase orders, capture client signatures and more - all on their iPhone (or any other smart phone or PDA).

Feel free to give us a call on 1300 139 467 to discuss your needs.

Thanks,

Does Simpro support MYOB Job codes ?

I know Simpro & itys' Accounting Link well, but would like to know, as we are looking at potential furture use of operations support systems such as Simpro - however in our govt grant program environment wev rely on MYOB Jobs & Calxa Premier (www.calxa.com.au) for reporting on 50+ programs.

The rackspace data center is in Hong Kong and replicated to US daily for further redundancy. We have selected Hong Kong after loads of testing - Hong Kong's location and carrier availability makes it one of the safest places to host our new cloud environment.

Lets reference the fact that most of the most sophisticated hosting companies are based in the US (rackspace being considered a market leader). If you, like us want to use the state-of-the-art facilities this is something that needs to be considered. Where do you think your bank is storing your data?

A common fear and concern people have for this is born more out of a misconception than any hard facts.

Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, the US and Canada are each signatories to an APEC Agreement on cross border privacy enforcement, please see the following link for more detail:

http://www.apec.org/About-Us/About-APEC/Fact-Sheets/APEC-Cross-border-Privacy-Enforcement-Arrangement.aspx

Ideally what this means is that Australia has a bi-lateral agreement with each of the listed countries stating that the data protection and privacy enforcement measures in place are of equal standard to those enforced locally. Essentially, if any security breach takes place off shore involving your data, the matter can be handled locally with cross border cooperation by the relevant authorities.

When it comes to actual Data Center security it is likewise a non-issue. All Rackspace DC’s are world class facilities and SAS 70 accredited. To give you just one example, SAS 70 accreditation stipulates no public access to the DC floor at any time. Conversely, 90% of the data centers here in Australia are typical co-location arrangements, meaning every customer has access to the server hall, with only an individual cabinet separating devices. On a like for like basis there are very few facilities worldwide that can compare with rackspace's stringent security policies.

When you take into account the true facts it is actually quite clear that off shore data hosting concerns are more specifically the result of scare tactics by local companies that up until now have been able to run unchecked in the hosting market.

This is the same physical data center that hosts all of those other business' I mentioned on the post (including Xero - a widely used online accounting system globally).

Another one of the big issues with a lot of Australian data centers is unreliability. We often get server outages that we have no control over, for example 12 months ago when that friendly fellow and his Backhoe decided to chop through both cables coming into QLD and knocked out all datacenters in the entire state (which happened to be us as well) which put simPRO offline for everyone outside the state.

You also have a very dangerous spot going down Charlotte street in Sydney city where our main backbone for the country is. That goes down and so to do all the data centers in Australia. However as most servers are not located here in Australia we don't notice as your accessing servers internationally anyway. Lets say all the physical cables (of which there are many) in Australia get cut as well, we still have redundant satellite connections to the outside world. Hong Kong and Hawaii two are the two main hubs of the worlds internet traffic, considering Hong Kong is closer and more stable we opted for that.

Hopefully this eases your concerns.
